
Women's Tennis Knocks Off Stetson

Deland, Fla. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team beat Stetson 5-2 as they continue their spring break competition in Florida.
The Cardinals won the doubles point when No .2 doubles pair Julie Penn and Paige Eber combined to shut out Christina Homan and Julie Doherty 8-0. The No. 3 pair of Kelly Taylor and Mariana Torres rolled over Patty West and Jackie Childers 8-2.
"We played very aggressively and utilized what we had learned in our previous match," said Meg Peavy, U of L women's head tennis coach. "We were patient, intelligent and much more precise. That comes with continued outdoor match experience."
After dropping the top two spots in singles, the bottom of the U of L lineup came through for the Cardinals. In fact, No. 4-6,. a total of three games were lost. Torres beat Haman 6-1, 6-0 and Eber and Taylor each beat their opponent by a 6-0, 6-1 score.
The Cardinals play conference power South Florida in Tampa, March 13 before returning home.
