Louisville Head Coach Rick Pitino
"It was a hell of a game. Princeton is a terrific basketball team. If I seeded all 40 teams I would have put them 40 on the list of teams I wanted to play."
"They shoot from eight feet from behind the line all the time. They had Maryland beat and played terrific at California. The teams that play them well are the ones that play them all the time. The big teams don't see this style of play very often."
(on Bryant Northern) "He hit the big three. The fact that he took it, especially with the game he was having, was big. It shows a lot about him that he took and made that shot."
"We played a very smart game but they were brilliant from the outside. We were struggling at the point. I didn't want to use Carlos (Hurt) because he is out of shape and overweight but he gave us a little spurt there in the first half."
"We only had 11 or 12 forced turnovers. We had to work for our forced turnovers. We did a good job against their matchup zone. The Maryland film scared the dickens out of me because they were up 15 in that game. One of the reasons we won is because we outrebounded them."
Princeton Head Coach John Thompson III
"I think we executed and played hard and we put ourselves in a position to win."
"When we were down 10, I thought we would eventually get our shots. I thought if we could limit their shots we would start making ours. We made our layup and they went down the court and he (Reece Gaines) made that tough shot and great players make those shots.
(on getting advice from his father) "We talked and there is nothing specific to survive against certain teams but you have to be tough. I thought we handled their press OK. They got key stops when they needed it. Obvisouly they are well coached and they made the plays when they had to."
(on if it is difficult to learn their style of play) "It varies but it depends on the person. It's not as complex as people think. It's not rocket science but you need good skill players and guys who are comfortable playing on the perimeter."
