
Volleyball Extinguishes Blazers

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Bing Sun had 11 kills and two blocks to lead the University of Louisville to a 30-14, 30-16, 30-15 win over UAB in Conference USA volleyball action Friday night at Cardinal Arena.
Louisville is 22-4, and 11-1 in Conference USA. The Cardinals have 12 of the last 14 matches and will play for the Conference USA regular season crown Saturday night against South Florida in Cardinal Arena. USF is 12-0 in conference play after a three-game sweep of Cincinnati Friday night.
"It would have been easy to look ahead to tomorrow's big match," said Leonid Yelin, U of L head coach. "But this team has been a joy to coach. They are very focused. They had a great practice today and it carried over into the match."
Louisville hit a season-high.422 and outblocked the Blazers 6-1.
The Cardinals welcomed back freshman Lena Ustymenko, who had her first start since hurting her wrist Oct. 30. She had six kills and nine digs. Junior middle hitter Benny Flynn had 10 kills and a block. Libero Sarah Drury had eight digs and setter Jennifer Craven had 32 assists and four service.
UAB was led by Martina Shields, who had nine kills and eight digs.
