
Men's Soccer Defeats South Florida 3-1

Tampa, Fla. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team defeated South Florida 3-1 on Friday night in Tampa. The Cardinals register their second consecutive win of the season and improve to 4-10-2, 2-3-1 on the season.
Sophomore Justin Pierre struck first for the Cardinals in the 25th minute, scoring off a long punt from keeper Brad Sokolowski to take advantage of the Bulls' keeper being out of the box. The Bulls tied it up in the 43rd minute of play. USF's Kevin Cowan headed the ball in off a corner kick from Gabriel Salgado.
Junior Simon Bird scored the game winning goal in the 53rd minute of play off a cross from Nathan Stephens. Bird struck again in the 71st minute dribbling past two defenders and chipping a shot past the USF keeper.
Freshman keeper Sokolowski registered five saves to keep the Bulls at bay. The game was played evenly with the Cardinals holding a 13 to 12 shot advantage.
The Cardinals will be back in action on Wed. Oct. 30 at Cincinnati.
