Ohio Edges Field Hockey 4-3 in OT

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The ninth-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team lost to Mid-American Conference opponent Ohio 4-3 in overtime Friday at Trager Stadium.
The Bobcats got on the scoreboard just four minutes into the game when Lindsay Rothenberger connected on an assist from Andrea Voros at the 4:24 mark. Ohio took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Louisville's Sarah Baum scored on a pass from Danielle Barr to tie the game at 1-1 just two minutes into the second half. Barr added another goal 1:20 later to give the Cards a 2-1 lead. Olivia Netzler and Pip Sanders assisted on the penalty corner goal.
Ohio's Rothenberger intercepted a Louisville pass in the Cards' defensive 25-yard line area and dished the ball to Elizabeth Holtzman who tied the game at 2-2 at the 42:39 mark.
Holtzman pushed in a rebound off of a Voros shot to pull the Bobcats ahead 3-2 at the 49:38 mark.
Louisville responded ten minutes later when Joanie Frame tipped a Pip Sanders shot to tie the game at 3-3. The teams remained scoreless for the last ten minutes of regulation, forcing the contest into a sudden-victory overtime period.
Ohio's Andrea Voros scored the game-winner on a shot from the right side of the circle into the left corner of the goal to give the Bobcats the 4-3 win 6:41 into the extra period.
U of L outshot Ohio 14-8 and held a 10-5 penalty corner advantage. Louisville goalkeeper Janina Perna had two saves in the game. Ohio goalkeeper Ashley Pitkin finished the game with six saves. Ohio improves to 7-7 (3-3 MAC)
Louisville (10-6, 4-2) will play host to No. 13 Kent State in another MAC matchup Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Trager Stadium.
