U of L gained a season-high 235 yards rushing. It was the most surrendered this season by Memphis, which had allowed an average of 111 yards in three games.
RB Tony Stallings rushed for a career-high 155 yards on 17 carries. It was his fourth career 100-yard rushing game and first this season.
True freshman RB Lionel Gates ran for 68 yards in 16 carries in his collegiate debut. Gates was pressed into action with leading rusher T.J. Patterson out due to a sprained ankle. Gates scored his first career touchdown on a three-yard run with 2:42 remaining in the third quarter. He becomes the first true rookie to score a TD since 1997 when RB Antonio Roundtree scored twice.
WR Deion Branch (5 catches, 134 yards, 2 TDs) surpassed 100 yards in receiving for the third time in five games this season and the eighth time in his career.
QB Dave Ragone climbed one spot on the U of L career passing list (3,988 career yards), passing Bennie Russell for ninth place.
P Wade Tydlacka's only three punts of the second half were downed inside the 20 yard line.
