LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell to Xavier 4-3 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center Tuesday.

The Cards began the match by sweeping the doubles point as the senior team of Katie McLaughlin and Kelly Whitler defeated Xavier's Emily Senich and Kate Weightman 8-2 at the top seed. At No. 2, Louisville's Melisa San Martin and Kelly Kiehna defeated Beth Abraham and Katy Wiles 8-3. Mariana Torres and Paige Eber completed the doubles sweep with their 8-5 win over Maggie Nafziger and Lindsay Dressman at No. 3.

In singles action, Louisville McLaughlin defeated Senich 6-2, 6-3 at the top seed. The Cards also got a win from Torres, who defeated Kerrie Kremer 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3. U of L's Kelly Whitler went to three sets before falling Weightman 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3. The Cards also took losses at Nos. 3 and 4.

The Cards (5-17) will close out the regular season Friday when they play host to Conference USA rival DePaul at 4 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
