Louisville Head Coach Denny Crum
"This isn't the way we wanted it to end. They played better and deserved to win. We had a different kind of year. We just weren't good enough to get over the hump."
"Marques (Maybin) has had a good career. We'll miss him and he'll probably miss us. These two guys (Maybin and Rashad Brooks) will be successful in their lives. As for my career, I don't think that there is a whole lot to be said. One of the hardest things to do is to be in the same place forever. I wouldn't change a thing and there are still some things I can do for this university. I want nothing but the best for the school. The kids learned a lot and I feel they're better. And for some, their career isn't just over yet. And there still is a chance for them to add to it. I feel confident whatever decision Tom (Jurich) makes will be the right one."
"I'll look forward to coming to the games. I have no regrets and am happy about the decision to stay here. I hope we can all unite behind whomever Tom picks. Hopefully everything will turn out great."
(on the fans) "I've said this so many fans, I think we have the best fans in the country. They are great people and their support makes me feel good. I've been blessed and I don't know how to explain it. I am one of the luckiest people to come down the pike."
(on the team playing tight tonight) "They (the players) were tight from the start. When you get older and more mature, you learn to deal with that better."
UAB Head Coach Murry Bartow
"We're obviously very happy with our performance. It was very emotional at the end with it being Coach Crum's last game. He's a legend in our profession. It was incredibly touching the last minute or so. Obviously you've got mixed feelings. On the one hand, you've got to put aside the emotion because I really wanted these players to advance to the second round. But on the other hand, you're obviosuly touched by the situation. It was hard to be on the winning side in a game like that because he's a Hall of Famer."
