NEW ORLEANS -- The University of Louisville women's golf team shot a 319, 315, 318, (952) to improve to fifth place in the final round of the Green Wave Women's Golf Classic at Lakewood Country Club.

The University of Tennessee won going away with a 306, 310, 305 (921) to win the tournament by 21 strokes over second place Vanderbilt. Individual medalist was Tina Schneeberger of Tennessee who shot a 73, 78, 75 (227) to tie Vandy's Meredeth Ward, who shot 73, 78, 76 (227). Schneeberger won the playoff to win the tournament.

Louisville's top finisher was Alison Wright, who shot a 75, 77, 78 (230) for a sixth place finish. She was followed by Katherine Mowat who finished 19th with an 81, 80, 77 (238). Cindy Pasechnik was right behind at 20th with a 78, 81, 80 (239).

Tulane was the only conference school to finish ahead of the Cardinals. Memphis, UAB, USM and Cincinnati all trailed U of L.

It was the first outing for the Cardinals in their spring season. They are idle until March 19 when they travel to New Port Richie, Fla. for the Waterleaf Invitational.
