LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell to Indiana State 4-3 Saturday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

The Sycamores took the doubles point to begin the match as the team of Karen Human and Jen Earl defeated Louisville's Katie McLaughlin and Kelly Whitler 8-6 at the top seed, and Laura Whitney and Lisa Herndon won over Paige Eber and Mariana Torres 8-6 at No. 3. U of L's Melisa San Martin and Julie Penn teamed to defeat Carolina Salinas and Lori Wilson 8-6 at the two spot.

In singles action, Julie Penn, Kelly Whitler, and Mariana Torres each posted wins for the Cardinals at Nos. 2, 3 and 6 respectively. Katie McLaughlin lost in three sets at the top seed and Kelly Kiehna fell in three sets at No. 5 to decide the match.

"Our young team continues to put up valiant efforts, but comes up short," said Louisville head coach Meg Peavy. "We'll be mentally prepared and ready to go for our double header on Wednesday."

U of L (2-10) will play host to Evansville and Belmont Wednesday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. Match times are 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. respectively.
