Women's Tennis Loses to Murray State

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - In the match against Murray State, the Racers took the doubles point by winning at Nos. 2 and 3. Louisville's Katie McLaughlin and Kelly Whitler won 8-6 at No. 1.
The Racers won three singles matches in three sets at Nos. 1, 4 and 5. Louisville's Julie Penn won her second singles match of the day with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 and Kelly Whitler defeated her opponent 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 3. Mariana Torres posted her third singles win of the weekend with a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 6.
"The team played with a lot of heart and determination this weekend, and I am proud of their efforts" said U of L head coach Meg Peavy.
Louisville (2-9) will play host to Evansville and Belmont on Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
