Women's Tennis Falls to Southern Illinois

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's tennis team lost to Southern Illinois 4-3 on Saturday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
The Salukies claimed the doubles pointas Alejandra Blanco and Tana Trapani defeated Julie Penn and Melisa San Martin 8-2 at the No. 2 spot and Sarah Krismatits and Keri Crandall defeated Paige Eber and Mariana Torres 8-3 at No. 3. Louisville's Katie McLaughlin and Kelly Whitler took the top seed with an 8-3 win over Erica Ochoa and Ana Serrot.
In singles action, the Salukies posted singles wins at Nos. 3, 4 and 5 to clinch the match. Louisville freshman Eber went to three sets with Krismanits before falling 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 at No. 5. For the Cards, McLaughlin notched a 6-7, 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1 and Penn defeated her opponent 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 2. Torres also recorded a singles win for the Cards with a 6-1, 6-4 decision at No. 6.
Louisville (2-8) will close out the day by playing Murray State at 4 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
