
Track Wraps Up Final Home Meet

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville men and women's track team wrapped their final home meet of the season tonight in Cardinal Park. While the meet was not scored, the Cardinals had some impressive performances.
In the pole vault, Cindy Roberson and Randelene Sergent both cleared 12'00.00 to win the event. It marked a season-best for Roberson and the third time this season Sergent cleared 12'00.00. Junior Mike Wolfe also won the pole vault clearing 15'06.00.
Junior Shola Kadiri won the shot put with a personal best mark of 47'08.00. Kadiri also finished second in the hammer throw with a distance of 163'09.00. Junior John Wawrysh won the hammer with a season best throw of 154'03.00. He finished second in the shot put with a throw of 43'09.75 and second in the discus with a throw of 159'04.00. Melissa Gale finished second in the discus with a throw of 137'09.00.
After setting the school record last week in the high jump, Lesley Drury followed it up with a second place finish. Drury cleared 5'07.25, just short of her record 5'08.00. Allen Carroll jumped a personal best of 22'11.00 in the long jump to win the event.
Freshman Andrea Cartwright won the 400 meters with a top time of 57.44 while Stefanie Wooten finished second with a season-best time of 58.18. Freshman Ryan Bridgeman finished second in the 400 with a personal best time of 49.52.
Matt Simmons finished second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.05. While Cary Owsley won the 400 meter hurdles with a top time of 54.45.
Lissette Shannon ran a season best time of 25.37 to finish second in the 200 meter dash. While Matt Simmons also posted a second place finish in the 200 with a time of 22.99.
In the 800 meter run, sophomore JR McCleney won the event with a season-best time of 1:53.76. While teammate Curtis Persinger finished second with a time of 1:54.10.
The women's 4x100 relay team won with a time of 48.54 and the men's 4x100 meter relay team also won with a time of 42.02. The women's 4x400 meter relay team won with a time of 4:07.85 and the men's won with a time of 3:21.30.
In the 1500 meters, Alicia Cavender finished second with a time of 4:40.21. Curtis Persinger finished second with a season-best time of 3:56.01. Jon Stein finished second in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:21.08.
The Cardinals will be in action again on May 5th at the Butler Open.
