
Field Hockey Edges Northwestern 2-1 in Overtime

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The ninth-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team defeated Northwestern 2-1 in overtime on Saturday in Bloomington, Ind.
Northwestern's Juli Fomenko got the scoring started when she broke a scorelesstie with five minutes remaining in the first half.
Louisville responded as Joanie Frame's unassisted goal tied the game at 1-1 in the closing seconds of the first half.
The contest would remain even through the second half and 10 minutes into overtime until U of L's Olivia Netzler scored the game-winner to give the Cards the 2-1 win.
The Cardinals outshot Northwestern 26-5 and held a 13-3 penalty corner advantage.
Louisville (10-2, 4-1 MAC) will play Indiana (1-8, 0-2 Big Ten) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
