
No. 9 Field Hockey Shuts Out Miami

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The ninth-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team scored a season-high seven goals to defeat Miami University (Ohio) 7-0 in a Mid-American Conference game Wednesday, at Trager Stadium.
Louisville's Jen Welgosh netted an unassisted goal to break open a scoreless tie with 11:32 remaining in the first half. Two minutes later, Susan Sattazahn connected on a feed from Pip Sanders to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Olivia Netzler began an onslaught of Cardinal scoring six minutes in the second half when she posted an unassisted goal and followed two minutes later with a tip off of a Sanders assist to give Louisville a 4-0 lead. Fifty seconds later, Elisa Eshelman added another unassisted goal to give the Cardinals a 5-0 advantage. Midway through the half, Sanders hit the back of the cage with her own unassisted goal to add to the Louisville lead and dished another assist to Sattazahn to cap off the scoring at 7-0 with 15:08 remaining in the game.
Sanders finished the game with a goal and three assists, while Netzler and Sattazahn had two goals each. The Cardinals outshot the RedHawks 24-1 and held a 14-0 penalty corner advantage.
Louisville's starting goalkeeper Christy Hershey collected one save and combined with Janina Perna for the team's fifth shutout of the season.
Miami goalkeepers Marie Vaughn recorded 10 saves in 54:52 minutes and Kerri Orr had three stops for the RedHawks in the last 15:08. Miami drops to 2-10 (0-5 MAC) on the season.
Louisville (9-2, 4-1) will travel to Bloomington, Ind. to play Northwestern on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 1:00 p.m. and Indiana on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 1:00 p.m.
