GREENVILLE, NC-East Carolina junior Amanda Duffy tallied a hat trick to lead the Pirates to a 5-1 win over Louisville in women's soccer Friday afternoon.
The Pirates struck quickly as senior Kelly Gray scored on a direct kick just before the three-minute mark to make it 1-0.
Duffy made it 2-0 later in the first half as she netted a cross from freshman Sarah Stoltz in the 24th minute.
The Cards cut the lead in half at 30:52 when freshman Mandy Rost launched a bending chip shot from 25 yards out that snuck under the top post sending the match to intermission 2-1 East Carolina.
In the 53rd minute, Duffy added her second goal, and less than four minutes later, Gray notched her second of the game. Duffy capped off the Pirates victory with her third goal at 73:02.
Louisville is now 4-11-0 overall and 2-6-0 in conference play.
They finish the weekend pair with a match at Charlotte Sunday at 1:00, and finish the regular season on November 2 against Cincinnati at Cardinal Park.
