No. 13 Ohio Edges Field Hockey 3-2 in Overtime

ATHENS, Ohio - The ninth-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team lost to No. 13 Ohio University 3-2 in overtime in a Mid-American Conference contest on Saturday in Athens, Ohio.
After the teams played a scoreless first half, Louisville's Kim Hughes put the Cardinals on the board when she connected on a penalty corner to make the score 1-0 at the 24:48 mark in the second half. Danielle Barr assisted on the score.
The Bobcats answered with 12:21 remaining in second half, when Ali Johnstone converted an Ohio penalty corner with an assist from Andrea Voros to tie the game at 1-1. Six minutes later, Johnstone assisted Jen Watt's goal to give Ohio a 2-1 advantage.
Louisville responded when Joanie Frame's unassisted goal tied the game at 2-2 with 3:18 remaining in regulation to send the teams into overtime.
Two minutes into the sudden-victory overtime period, Ohio's Lauren Mazziotto's goal gave the Bobcats the 3-2 upset win. Ohio improves to 12-4 (7-1 MAC).
Ohio outshot the Cards 15-8 and held a 10-9 penalty corner advantage. Louisville goalkeeper Christy Hershey collected seven saves in the game.
U of L (13-4, 6-3) will travel to Oxford, Ohio to play league opponent Miami University on Friday, Oct. 26 at 3:00 p.m.
The Cardinals will play host to Applachian State on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Trager Stadium in their last regular season game before the MAC Field Hockey Championship, which will be held Nov. 2-4 at Trager Stadium.
