Field Hockey Falls to No. 12 Kent State

KENT, Ohio - The ninth-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team lost to No. 12 Kent State 2-0 Friday at Dix Stadium in Kent, Ohio in a Mid-American Conference game.
The Golden Flashes broke a scoreless tie 15 minutes into the game when Megan Spurling netted a rebound from Louisville goalkeeper Christy Hershey to give Kent State a 1-0 lead.
Helen Jerdan gave the Golden Flashes an insurance goal when she scored on a penalty corner with 6:54 remaining in the game for the 2-0 win.
The Golden Flashes ousthot the Cardinals 15-8 and held an 11-7 penalty corner advantage. Kent State improves to 9-6 (5-2 MAC).
Louisville (13-3, 6-2 MAC) travels to Athens Ohio, where they will face No. 13 Ohio University in a league game at 1:00 p.m.
