
Women's Basketball Loses at Houston

Houston, Texas - University of Louisville women's basketball team fell to the University of Houston 85-63 today in Hofeinz Pavillion. The Cards fall to 7-7 on the season and 2-1 in Conference USA. Houston improves to 9-6 and 2-1 in Conference USA.
Louisville was led by freshman Sara Nord with 21 points and Houston was led by feshman Chandi Jones with 24 points.
The Cards began the second half going on a 14-4 run to start the half. The Cards got back in the game with the outside shooting of guards Nord and Marju Sober, cutting the lead to nine with 14:29 remaining.
But Louisville could not stop the hot shooting of Houston. The Cougars shot 46.7 percent for the game while the Cards shot 37.5 percent.
Houston took control of the game from the tip, going on a 13-0 run in the first five minutes of the game. The Cougars managed to build a 26-point lead in the first ten minutes of the half.
The Cards managed a 14-2 run with six minutes remaining. In that run Sober scored five, Nord five and Kessans four points. Houston finished the half with a 43-25 lead. Louisville's 25 points was a season-low for points scored in a half.
Houston shot 50 percent in the first half compared to the Cardinals 37 percent. Houston forced the Cards into 14 turnovers in the first half and converted them to 14 points.
Louisville will travel to Chicago to take on the DePaul Blue Demons on Friday night at 8:00 p.m.
