Louisville Head Coach Denny Crum
"I told our guys that we wanted maximum effort on the defensive end and give the ball up to your teammates. It's been a long time coming but we had 22 assists. In the first half, we took six bad shots and I am not sure how many in the second half. I told the guys we had to eliminate the bad shots and our shot selection was much better in the second half. We hit a lot of good open shots and a lot of people did. I thought our defense was decent. When we went to the zone, we stopped their penetration."
(on Rashad Brooks) "Rashad came in and played good and the main reason was because he made up his mind he was going to please me. When he tries to dribble, he makes mistakes. He only turned the ball over twice and that's pretty good with the minutes he played. He had his best game of his career against Cincinnati and he turned around and had a good game tonight."
Houston Head Coach Ray McCallum
"We thought we matched up with them. It was a great effort by both teams. Our inability to score down the stretch really hurt us. In the second half, the zone slowed us down and we couldn't get shots to go down for us. They had some guys make some big plays for them down the stretch."
(on Louisville) "They moved the ball very well. (Marques) Maybin and (Rashad) Brooks had some good looks and they moved the ball better than I had seen on film. I think they have outstanding talent. I think they are a lot like us in building chemistry and have played a tough schedule. There are not many fab fives anymore."
