Field Hockey Defeats Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. - The University of Louisville field hockey team defeated Mid-American Conference opponent Ball State 3-0 Saturday at Ball State. The victory marks U of L's first win over Ball State in the history of the series.
Louisville sophomore Susan Sattazahn scored midway through the first half on a penalty stroke to give U of L a 1-0 lead going into halftime. Freshman Elisa Eshelman added an unassisted goal for Louisville with 9:48 remaining in the second half to make the score 2-0. U of L senior Lainey Habeeb connected on a penalty corner with assists from Pip Sanders and Keri Beckhorn, to complete the 3-0 win. Ball State falls to 3-8, (0-3 MAC).
Louisville freshman goalie Christy Hershey collected eight saves for her second shut out of the season. Ball State's goalie Nina Gruen collected six saves.
U of L (7-4, 2-2) will play host to Miami University (Ohio) on Friday, Oct. 6 at 4:00 p.m. at Trager Stadium in Cardinal Park.
