
Field Hockey Defeats Miami 5-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville field hockey team defeated Miami University (Ohio) 5-0 on Friday at Trager Stadium in Cardinal Park.
Louisville sophomore Susan Sattazahn opened up the scoring midway through the first half when she connected on a penalty corner with an assist from sophomore Pip Sanders. Freshman Elisa Eshelman scored an unassisted goal five minutes later. Sanders notched a goal of her own with 10:26 remaining in the first half on an assist from senior Lainey Habeeb. Sophomore Jen Welgosh recorded her first collegiate goal on a Habeeb assist with 7:55 remaining to give the Cardinals a 4-0 halftime lead.
Welgosh scored her second goal of the game nine minutes into the second half to give the Cards the 5-0 win.
Louisville goalkeeper Christy Hershey started thegame and played 35 minutes, collecting two saves and earned half of the shutout. Janina Perna played in the goal the second half of the game, had one save and earned half of the shutout. Goalkeeper Marie Vaughn started the game for the RedHawks and recorded four saves in the first half, allowing four goals. Lisa Rodelo played the second half, collecting five saves and allowing one goal.
Miami falls to 3-9 (1-4 MAC).
Louisville (8-4, 3-2 MAC) will play host to Appalachian State on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Trager Stadium.
