
Field Hockey Defeats Ohio 3-2

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville field hockey team opened up Mid-American Conference play by beating Ohio University 3-2 on Friday at Trager Stadium.
After playing a scoreless first half, Louisville took the lead on an Allison Barkley goal at the 24:00 mark in the second half.
Ohio quickly tied the game when Amanda Eaby scored an unassisted goal just two minutes later. The Bobcats pulled ahead 2-1 with 12:19 remaining in the game when Andrea Pettinato connected on a pass from Ali Johnstone.
Louisville's Danielle Barr tied the game at two with 10:28 remaining when she nailed a penalty stroke. The score remained tied 2-2 until Barr scored the game-winning goal on a penalty corner with assists from Keri Beckhorn and Pip Sanders with just three seconds remaining in the game to give U of L the 3-2 victory.
Ohio falls to 2-5, (0-1 MAC).
Louisville (6-2, 1-0 MAC) will play host to Kent State (6-3, 2-0 MAC) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Trager Stadium. The Cardinals are currently ranked No. 18 in the National Field Hockey Association rankings.
