
Field Hockey Edges Providence in Overtime

STORRS, Conn. - STORRS, Conn. -- The University of Louisville field hockey team defeated Providence College 3-2 in overtime in the second game of the IKON Husky Classic.
After playing a scoreless first half, Providence's Casey Geary scored in the first seven minutes of the second half to give the Friars a 1-0 lead.
Keri Beckham tied the game for the Cardinals 11 minutes later on an assist from Elisa Eshelman. Louisville pulled ahead 2-1 when Pip Sanders scored with 5:19 remaining in the game.
The Friars struck just one minute later when Breanne Wojnarowicz tied the game, sending the teams to overtime.
Louisville's Susan Sattazahn scored the game-winner two minutes into the overtime period to give the Cardinals the 3-2 win.
U of L (2-1) will face host No. 11 Connecticut on Sunday at 11:30 in the IKON Husky Classic.
