Field Hockey Shuts Out Northwestern

EVANSTON, Ill. - The University of Louisville field hockey team defeated Northwestern University 2-0 on Sunday at Northwestern.
Louisville freshman Elisa Eshelman recorded her first collegiate goal with 22:04 remaining in the first half to put the Cards on the board. Sophomore Allison Barkley added insurance with an unassisted goal with 13:14 left in the first half.
U of L held the Wildcats scoreless, as freshman goalkeeper Christy Hershey recorded her first collegiate shutout.
The Cardinals improve to 5-2 on the season. They are currently ranked No. 17 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association rankings. Northwestern drops to 2-4.
The Cards will open up play at Trager Stadium at Cardinal Park when they play host to Mid-American Conference opponent Ohio University on Friday, Sept. 22 at 4:00 p.m.
