U of L Women's Soccer Wins Opener

University of Louisville women's soccer team won its season opener, topping the Tennesse-Martin Skyhawks 4-0 Saturday afternoon at Skyhawk Field.
The Cardinals got two goals and two assists from Amber Jolley to lead the way to the win. A scoreless first half was avoided when Dana Edler scored on a header with an assist from Jolley with 15 seconds left in the opening period.
U of L broke the game open with a pair of goals within a four-minute span in the final half. Jolley scored on a shot from the left side at the 61:22 mark while Lynda Keeton scored on a center shot at 65:25 off a feed from Jolley. Jolley closed out the scoring in the final minute of play with an assistant from Nicole Casavant at 89:08. The Cardinals had 31 shots on goal.
UT Martin was limited to three first half shots, all by Sherrie Weeks.
The match was the first game as head coach for the Cardinals Karen Ferguson and the Skyhawks Nathan Pifer.
The Cardinals next visit Miami in Oxford, Ohio Tuesday at 5:00.
