Cardinals Earn Awards At Football Banquet

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Senior quarterback Chris Redman concluded his career as the University of Louisville's signalcaller earning the program's most valuable player award for the 1999 season.
Redman and his teammates were honored as part of the Cardinals' Award Banquet held this evening at the Commonwealth Convention Center.
Redman earned the award after leading U of L to a 7-5 mark and a second consecutive bowl appearance while throwing for more than 3,600 yards and 29 touchdowns.
Senior running back Frank Moreau finished his career as the nation's eighth leading rusher and earned U of L Offensive Player of the Year laurels. Moreau gained more than 1,200 yards on the ground and scored a team-high 17 touchdowns.
Junior college transfer Donovan Arp earned defensive player of the year honors after leading the Cardinals with 16 tackles for loss. His 16 tackles behind the line of scrimmage are the second highest single season total in U of L history.
True freshman Ryan Woods wrapped up a successful initial collegiate season earning the club's special teams player of the year award.
Leading receiver Arnold Jackson and second-leading tackler Rashad Harris were honored with the Coaches' Award for their respective sides of the football while senior wide receiver Lavell Boyd earned the team's most inspirational player award.
Freshman running back T.J. Patterson was named the Offensive Scout Team Most Valuable Player while rookie defensive back Michael Everett took top honors on the defensive scout team.
Junior safety Dewayne Taylor was honored with the Frank Camp Award given annually to the team's top academic performer.
Redman and Harris along with defensive tackle Mike Gantous and offensive tackle Anthony Byrd were retired as permanent team captains.
