LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Football News has named University of Louisville rookies Michael Brown and Michael Josiah to its all-freshman first team announced in its latest edition. The Freshman All-America honor is the second for Josiah who was named to The Sporting News all-freshman second-team a week ago.
Brown finished second among Cardinals with 104 tackles this season as U of L advanced to its second consecutive bowl game with a 7-4 mark. Along with 104 stops, Brown registered 13 tackles for loss and one sack.
A 2,000-yard rusher in his senior season at local Butler High School, Brown returned an interception 74 yards for a touchdown, forced three fumbles, broke up four passes and recovered one fumble in his redshirt season.
Josiah tied for the team lead with seven sacks in his first collegiate campaign and finished in a tie for third place among C-USA pass rushers. A native of Kenya, Josiah recorded 34 tackles on the season including nine for loss.
Both players were honored by Conference USA on the league's all-freshman team.
