LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Florida high school standout Marcia Alvarado and Kentucky high school standout Kim Graham have each signed a national letter-of-intent to play with the Louisville Lady Cards next season announced co-head coaches Martin Clapp and Sara White.
Alvarado is a 5-5 point guard from Brandon, Fla., and averaged 18.3 points per game as a junior. She was named the Most Valuable Player as a junior and is ranked as one of the top 10 guards in Florida and top 50 guards in the nation by the All-Star Girls Report. She earned first team all-conference honors as a sophomore and junior.
"Marcia will bring some added energy and a winning attitude to the Lady Card program," said Clapp. "She is a versatile player who will play both point and shooting guard positions. She is rated as one of the top players in Florida and continues our string of Florida players over the last few years. She had a great summer with her AAU team and will push everyone to work as hard as she does."
Graham is a 6-0 wing player from Bowling Green High School. She earned second team all-state honors as a junior last season after averaging 21 points per game and ranking as one of the top 20 scorers in the state. She also averaged 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 3.5 steals and 2.5 blocked shots per game.
"Kim continues to bring us the athleticism that will add to our team," said Clapp. "She has good ballhandling skills with the ability to knock down the three or take it to the hole. She is a great leaper who will help us rebound better from the wing position. Kim is the best guard in the state and we are excited that she chose to stay in the state and play her college basketball at U of L."
