Cardinals Place Sixth At JoAnn Prentice Lady Blazer Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Louisville women's golf team opened its inaugural spring season with a sixth-place finish at the JoAnn Prentice Lady Blazer Invitational. The 15-team event was played at the 5,886-yard, par-72 Inverness Country Club in Birmingham, Ala.
Sam Houston State ran away with the title, finishing with a two-day total of 615, 18 strokes better than second-place Southwest Missouri State. The Cardinals carded a 645 (322-323), just four strokes behind third-place Austin Peay.
Louisville's Katherine Mowat (78-81) and Erin Bell (82-77) finished with a 159 to tie for 13th place. Cindy Pasechnik (163) tied for 29th, Lizzy Freemantle (164) tied for 35th) and Jessica Kell (170) tied for 48th to round out the Cardinal finishers.
Amanda Phillips of Austin Peay earned medalist honors after shooting a 5-over 149, edging Sam Houston State's Wendy Gray by one stroke.
