LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Reece Gaines scored a career-high 26 points and Marques Maybin had 24 as Louisville beat Loyola of Chicago 86-70 Monday night.
Erik Brown added 11 points as the Cardinals (3-6) snapped a five-game losing streak.
David Bailey scored 13 points and Ryan Blankston and Silvije Turkovic added 10 each for the Ramblers (2-7).
The Cardinals led by 15 at halftime and used a 10-2 run to open the second half, including back-to-back 3-pointers by Maybin, to put the game away.
Loyola pulled within 57-41 on Louis Smith's 3-pointer with 11:32 to play, but the Ramblers would get no closer.
Gaines hit eight of 14 shots from the field, including two of three 3-pointers, and all eight of his free throw attempts. He also added six assists and two rebounds.
Louisville forced 23 turnovers, leading to 21 points, and held the Ramblers to 40 percent shooting from the field.
Gaines scored 14 of Louisville's first 24 points, including two 3-pointers, as the Cardinals jumped out to a 24-18 lead.
Up 26-24, Louisville held Loyola without a field goal over the last 8:20 of the half and outscored the Ramblers 16-3 to take a 42-27 halftime lead.
