Field Hockey Falls to Kent State

KENT, Ohio - The University of Louisville field hockey team (9-6, 3-4 MAC) lost to No. 12 Kent State 5-0 on Saturday at Dix Stadium. The victory extends Kent State's winning streak to 12 games and its home winning streak to 21 games.
Kent State scored on Stephanie Mirner's goal three minutes into the game from sophomore Kristen Clayton. Arlette van Cleeff scored her first goal of the game with 25:08 left in the first half on an Els Brouwer assist. Brouwer then scored on consecutive penalty corners from senior Meagan Class and sophomore Kristen Johnson. Van Cleeff wrapped up the scoring on an unassisted goal with 18:46 remaining in the game.
Louisville goalkeeper Christy Hershey recorded fifteen saves in the game. Kent State's Jodi Lume won her 11th game of the season, stopping one shot. Jessica Creeden stopped five shots in relief, including two penalty strokes.
The Cards will travel to St. Louis to play Southwest Missouri on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 1:00 p.m.
