Entringer, Lubin on Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville football program had a pair of student-athletes named to the preseason watch list for the 2026 Bronko Nagurski Trophy released by the Football Writers Association of America on Tuesday.
Koen Entringer and Clev Lubin were two of the 68 standouts named contenders for the national defensive player of the year.
Louisville is one of 13 programs to have multiple players on the preseason watch list. The Cardinals join Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Texas will two representatives.
Lubin returns to Louisville for his second season after turning in an All-ACC campaign last year. The Suffern, N.Y., native was a third team All-ACC selection in 2025 after ranking fourth in the league with 8.5 sacks and seventh with 13.5 tackles for loss.
Entringer is joining the Cardinals for the 2026 season after four seasons at Iowa. The defensive back recorded 73 tackles and was a captain for a Hawkeyes defense that ranked eighth nationally in scoring defense and ninth in total defense.
The FWAA All-America Committee, after voting input from the association's full membership, selects a 26-man All-America Team and eventually the Bronko Nagurski Trophy finalists. Committee members, by individual ballot, select the winner they regard as the best defensive player in college football.
The FWAA has chosen a National Defensive Player of the Year since 1993. In 1995, the FWAA named the award in honor of the legendary two-way player from the University of Minnesota. Nagurski dominated college football, then became a star for professional football's Chicago Bears in the 1930s. Bronislaw "Bronko" Nagurski is a charter member of both the College Football and Pro Football Halls of Fame.
