The Cardinals are 4-0 to start ACC play
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The No. 10/11 Louisville women's basketball team (14-3, 4-0 ACC) is heading back out on the road this week as they head down to the Sunshine State to take on Miami (10-5, 2-2 ACC). The Cardinals and Hurricanes are set to face off in Coral Gables on Thursday, January 8 at 3 p.m. and it will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
The Cardinals are coming off a 85-60 win over Virginia Tech this past Sunday. Head coach Jeff Walz eclipsed 500 wins for his career. He became just the seventh active head coach to reach 500 wins or more at one school. He is the fourth head coach in the history of the University of Louisville to reach 500 wins or more.
Louisville has won each of its last seven games and has played really well on both sides of the ball since the Thanksgiving holiday. Since Nov. 28, the Cardinals are averaging 87.3 points per game and have a scoring margin of +31.9. They have ACC wins over #12/#11 North Carolina, SMU and Virginia Tech during that span and a 24-point win over #17/#18 Tennessee.
Four players have averaged 10 points or more (Tajianna Roberts, 12.0; Imari Berry, 10.9; Skylar Jones, 10.4 and Laura Ziegler, 10.1). Elif Istanbulluoglu is right behind them and has averaged 9.8 points per game over the last 11 games. Mackenly Randolph is averaging 7.9 points per game in this stretch and is shooting 57.8% (37-for-64) from the field.

Miami enters Thursday's matchup with a 10-5 overall record and are 2-2 in ACC play. They are coming off a week where they defeated Virginia Tech 75-69 on the road in overtime and then fell at home to Clemson, 70-55. Their other ACC win on the year came against Wake Forest (64-61) on Dec. 18 and they dropped their ACC opener to NC State (87-61) on Dec. 14. Miami had one other common opponent of the Cardinals as they dropped their ACC/SEC matchup to Kentucky (64-48) on Dec. 3. Ra Shaya Kyle leads the ACC and ranks fourth nationally with 10 double doubles on the season. She ranks second in the league and 22nd nationally with 10.3 rebounds per game. She also gets to the free throw line at a high rate as she leads the ACC and is 27th in the country with 69 made free throws.

Center. Louisville raced out to an early lead and did not look back as the Cardinals won their third-straight game and improved to 2-1 in ACC play. Jayda Curry paced the Cardinals with a season-best 21 points as she shot 6-for-12 from the field, 4-for-9 from three and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line. Tajianna Roberts scored all 14 points of her points in the first half to go with four rebounds, four assists and two steals. Olivia Cochran scored in double figures for the third-straight game with 13 points on 6-for-9 shooting and tied a season high with three steals. Facing her former team, Ja'Leah Williams nearly tallied a triple double as she had eight points and team-bests seven rebounds and seven assists to go with four steals.
