February 22, 2025 | Women's Basketball
It is the third-straight ranked opponent the Cards will face
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville women's basketball team (19-7, 12-3 ACC) is coming off another ranked road win as it returns home for the final homestand of the regular season. Another ranked team is up for the Cards as they will host No. 9/10 North Carolina (24-4, 12-3 ACC) on Sunday at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cards and Tar Heels will square off at 2 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
For fans attending on Sunday, river flooding has closed portions of River Road and there will be no right turn off the 3rd Street exit off I-64. Fans will only be able to go straight on 3rd Street or turn left on River Road coming off the exit. Please allow extra time when arriving to the game as certain routes will be busier than usual.
Louisville is coming home with a four-game winning streak with three of the wins coming against ranked opponents. It started with a 70-63 home win over Cal on Feb. 6 and the last two were on the road against No. 23/21 Florida State (83-69) and most recently against No. 11 Duke (70-62). Louisville has won four of its last five games against ranked opponents dating back to Jan. 12.
In the most recent win over the 11th-ranked Blue Devils, the Cardinals handed Duke its first home loss of the season. Duke had won 13-straight games at home and 18-straight home games against unranked opponents dating back to last season. Louisville becomes the first team men or women to beat Duke on its home floor this season.
Jayda Curry led the way for the Cards with a season-high 24 points and five steals in the win over the Blue Devils. The 24 points are the most points scored by a Louisville player in a game this season. Curry was 9-for-9 from the free throw line as she ranks fifth in the country with a 93.4 free throw percentage on the season.
In a battle of two of the front runners for ACC Rookie of the Year, Tajianna Roberts put up 11 points and was 6-for-6 from the free throw line in the win. She tallied her 21st double-digit scoring game of the season, which is four more than any ACC freshmen this season.
