She is one of 20 players named to the watch list that honors the best small forward in the country
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — University of Louisville junior Skylar Jones was named to the Cheryl Miller Award Watch List, the Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Wednesday. Jones is one of 20 players on the preseason list that recognizes the top small forward in college basketball.
Jones joins the Cardinals after playing her first two collegiate seasons at Arizona. In her two years in Tucson, she played in 64 games and made 40 starts. She scored 571 points, hauled in 169 rebounds, dished out 100 assists and tallied 94 steals in her first two seasons.
During her sophomore season, she was one of three players on the team to average 10 points per game or more (10.7) and led the team for the year with 52 steals. She had a career-best 30 points against No. 11 TCU, which was the most points scored by an Arizona player since 2023. Against UCF, she scored 17 points and was perfect from the field (5-for-5 from the floor, 2-for-2 from three and 5-for-5 from the foul line).
In her freshman season at Arizona, she averaged 7.2 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. She was named Pac-12 All-Freshman Honorable Mention and scored a season-best 24 points against Syracuse in the NCAA Tournament.
