She will compete with Team USA in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia from Sept. 13-15
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The busy summer continues for Louisville's Sydney Taylor as she was named to the USA 3x3 U23 Nations League Final Team, USA Basketball announced Tuesday afternoon. Taylor will be joined by Azana Baines, Teisha Hyman and Leilani Kapinus, who have all been named to the U23 squad coached by Tammi Reiss.
Team USA will be slotted in Pool D with U21 Germany, Poland and Mongolia. All the pool games for Team USA will be played on Sept. 14. The top-two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the quarterfinals. The quarterfinals, semifinals and final game will all be held on Sept. 15.
This will be Taylor's third appearance with the USA 3x3 squad this summer after competing in Chile in July and Quebec last month. Her Team USA appearances came off of a gold medal and Tournament MVP with the Cardinals as they won the 2023 GLOBL JAM early in July. Taylor hit the game-winning three against Team Canada in the final minute to help the Cardinals clinch gold.
In her first stop with Team USA in Chile, she played in three of the six days for Team USA and they won each of those three day tournaments that she participated in. Taylor scored 52 points over the nine games and led the team in scoring in two of those games. She scored a game-high 11 points against Puerto Rico on Day three, her highest single game point total of the weekend. Over the course of the week, the USA women went 15-2 through six days of competition, winning by a combined score of 332-181.
During the 3x3 stop in Quebec, Taylor guided Team USA to the final game before falling to the hosts, Team Canada.
