Cardinals Close Homestand with Pitt

Louisville will honor the 2013 National Runner-Up team at Sunday’s game
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The NR/RV Louisville women's basketball team is back in action and a rematch from an earlier ACC matchup is on deck. The Cardinals (12-5, 3-1) welcome Pitt (7-8, 0-4) to the KFC Yum! Center as they close out the two game homestand on Sunday. The Cardinals and Panthers will tip-off at 2 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast nationally on ACC Network.
The Cardinals are set to honor the 2013 National Runner-Up team at Sunday's game. The 2012-13 squad finished the year 29-9 and had one of the biggest upsets in women's college basketball when they defeated No. 1-seed Baylor in the Sweet Sixteen. The Cardinals then defeated Tennessee and Cal to advance to the national championship game for the second time in program history. A number of members of the team will be in town for the game and they will all be honored at halftime.
Louisville is coming off a 63-55 win over Georgia Tech on Thursday at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cards committed a season-low eight turnovers in the win. Louisville has won its last 11-games in a row when they have committed less than 10 turnovers. The Cards improved to 10-0 all-time against Georgia Tech and won their 13th-straight ACC home game going back to the 2020-21 season.
Hailey Van Lith continued her scoring prowess in the win over the Yellow Jackets. She scored a game-high 24 points on 10-of-20 shooting. It was her third-straight game scoring 20 points or more and the third game in a row she has shot 50 percent or more. It is just the second time in her career that she has had three-straight games shooting 50 percent or better from the floor.

Pitt ranks sixth in the league in three point percentage as they shoot 32.4 percent from behind the arc. Forward Liatu King leads the Panthers with 11.4 points per game, 8.5 rebounds per game, 1.6 blocks per game and she has three double-doubles so far this season. Guard Marley Washenitz has the team lead with 2.3 assists per game.

The Cardinals (9-4, 1-0) won their ACC opener for the ninth-straight season and are a perfect 9-0 since joining the league. The win gave the Cardinals their 10th-straight conference opening win, dating back to the 2013-14 season. Hailey Van Lith led all scorers with 20 points on 6-for-13 shooting and 3-for-5 from behind the arc. It was the fifth time in her last seven games that she has scored 20 points or more and she has scored 20 or more in seven of her 12 games this season. Olivia Cochran tallied 11 points and tied a season high with 13 rebounds. It was her third double-double of the season and she is tied with Van Lith for most on the team this season. Six players scored eight or more points for the Cards as Merissah Russell had nine and Liz Dixon, Morgan Jones and Josie Williams had eight points each.
