RV/RV Cardinals Stumble Against #20/18 NC State, 63-51
January 22, 2023 | Women's Basketball
Carr led all scorers with 16 points and four threes
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Due to a poor shooting performance, the RV/RV Louisville women's basketball team fell 63-51 to No. 20/18 NC State this afternoon. The Cardinals are now 15-7 (6-3 ACC) while the Wolfpack move to 15-5 (5-4 ACC).
Chrislyn Carr led the Cardinals with 16 points, shooting 4-for-7 from beyond the arc. This marks her fifth straight game with two or more threes and the seventh time this season she has hit four or more threes in a game.
The Cardinals shot 41.2 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from the three-point line in the first half to put them up 33-31 going into the locker room. However, an uncharacteristic second half saw 18.8 percent shooting from the field and zero three-point shots from either team.
Morgan Jones recorded 13 points, five rebounds, and two steals, her fifth game this season with multiple steals. Hailey Van Lith was the third Cardinal to score in double figures this afternoon with 11 points and also contributed two steals.
The Cardinals were within reach at the start of the fourth quarter, down only two points. However, a 13-3 NC State run to close out the game resulted in a season-low scoring quarter for the Cardinals with only four points.
Louisville had a season-low of six assists, led by two from Mykasa Robinson. Robinson added five points, six rebounds and a steal.
Louisville pulled down 37 boards in comparison to NC State's 41. Olivia Cochran led the team with 11 rebounds, marking her 14th game with at least seven rebounds and her fourth game with at least 10 rebounds this season.
The Cardinals will go on a two-game road swing to close out the month, first traveling to Wake Forest on Jan. 26. The game will be aired on the ACC Network with a tip-off time of 6 p.m. ET.
