Weather Disrupts Sunday's Preseason Scrimmage Against Bellarmine
August 21, 2022 | Field Hockey
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville field hockey team was leading Bellarmine 2-1 with 7:11 remaining on the clock when the preseason scrimmage was called due to inclement weather Sunday afternoon at Trager Stadium.
After lightning in the area forced the start of the game to be delayed an hour, the Knights got on the scoreboard, converting on a penalty corner attempt in the fifth minute of the game.
Â
The Cards answered with a penalty corner goal of their own by Izzy Bianco to tie the game at 1-1 with just over five minutes left in the first quarter.
Â
The score remained knotted at 1-1 until Katie Schneider's fourth-quarter goal put Louisville on top 2-1.
Â
With thunderstorms rolling through the area and multiple lightning delays, the teams were unable to resume play and the game ended.
