Cards Will Travel to Ann Arbor to Face Oklahoma in NCAA First Round

The University of Louisville men's tennis team will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. to face Oklahoma in the first round of the 2022 NCAA Championship on Friday at the University of Michigan.

The winner between 25th-ranked Louisville and No. 35 Oklahoma will advance to Saturday's regional final to face the winner of the other first-round match between Western Michigan and host and fifth-seeded, No. 7-ranked Michigan. All match times are still to be announced.

Louisville will be making is 13th NCAA appearance and the first since 2017 when the Cardinals advanced to the regional final before falling to host Ohio State.

"We've worked really hard to get to where we are right now," said head coach Rodrigo da Silva. "We weren't really concerned with where or who we are going to play, we're just excited to have the opportunity to keep competing and continue our season against Oklahoma in Ann Arbor on Friday."

LOUISVILLE NOTES
The Cardinals (19-8) reached the semifinals of the ACC Men's Tennis Championship for the first time since joining the league in 2015.
• Louisville has been ranked in the top 25 for four straight weeks. The Cardinals reached their highest national team ranking of the season at No. 23 on April 20.
• Louisville's 19 wins mark the most for the team since the 2017 squad went 22-10.
• The Cardinals earned the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament after compiling a 9-3 record ACC play.
• The nine wins in ACC play are the most for Louisville since the program joined the ACC for the 2014-15 season.
• Junior Etienne Donnet stands at No. 99 in the ITA singles rankings, marking his sixth week in the top 120 this season. The Cardinals' top-seeded player (Lyon, France/Oklahoma State) carries a 16-10 overall record and is 14-9 in dual matches at the No. 1 spot.
• Head coach Rodrigo da Silva is in his third season at the helm.
