
LeBlanc Named Senior Director for Sports Medicine and Director of Rehabilitation

Blake LeBlanc, a veteran of the University of Louisville Sports Medicine Department since 2009, has been named the Senior Director for Sports Medicine/ Director of Rehabilitation.
LeBlanc has served in a variety of different capacities before being named the head of the Sports Medicine Department. He will be directing sports medicine for all 23 sports and lead the rehabilitation of all UofL student-athletes.
Before becoming the head of the sports medicine, Blake primarily served as the Physical Therapist for all sports at UofL, primarily worked football for the past 12 years, and worked as an Athletic Trainer for all sports providing coverage when necessary. This past year, he oversaw the daily operations of Cardinal Park Athletic Training Room.
"Blake LeBlanc is well respected in the fields of sports medicine and physical therapy on campus, in the community, and throughout the nation. Blake is a leader with a high level of passion for sports and people, especially student athletes," said Dr. Pat Ivey, Associate Athletics Director for Student Athlete Health and Performance.
A previous standout Lacrosse player at UofL, Katie Oliverio (2009-2013), said "everything Blake does is intentional and focused, not only on the person as an athlete, but also as an individual. His compassion and support, ability to challenge me and push the limits is next level".
As a testament to his dedication to his athletes and development of other athletic trainers, Blake was recently awarded the 2022 Kentucky Collegiate Athletic Trainer of the Year by the Kentucky Athletic Trainer Society.
LeBlanc received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from West Virginia University in May 2009. He is also a graduate of an APTA Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency through Evidence in Motion (2013) and is trained in Kineticore Functional Dry Needling, EIM Trigger Point Dry Needing, Owen's Recovery Blood Flow Restriction Therapy, Selective Functional Movement Assessment, and Functional Movement Screening.
LeBlanc previously served as a member of the UofL Sports Medicine Department as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for cross country and track and field (2002-03) and football (2003-04), while pursuing his master's degree in Sports Administration. LeBlanc earned his degree in 2002 from LSU and was recognized as the student athletic trainer of the year his senior year.
A native of Lafayette, La., Dr. LeBlanc is a Kentucky Licensed Physical Therapist, and a NATABOC certified Athletic Trainer licensed in KY. He is a member of the APTA and NATA. He is an AHA CPR/First Aid Instructor. He continues his service to the profession as a preceptor for multiple universities across the nation in both athletic training and physical therapy programs.
LeBlanc is married to Dr. Amanda (Bell) LeBlanc, Ph.D. (UofL 2004, M.S.) and they have two sons, Louis and Emile.
