Cabello, Hadley Selected to Respective NCAA DI Oversight Committees

Nayelis Cabello will serve on the NCAA DI Women’s Volleyball Oversight Committee; J’Vonne Hadley will serve on the NCAA DI Men’s Basketball Oversight Committee
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Two University of Louisville student-athletes have been appointed to their respective NCAA Division I oversight committee. Sophomore setter Nayelis Cabello has been appointed as a member of the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Oversight Committee while sixth-year senior guard J'Vonne Hadley has been appointed as a member of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Oversight Committee.

Cabello was voted as the 2024 ACC Freshman of the Year, AVCA South Region Freshman of the Year and was named ACC Freshman of the Week six times. An outstanding student, she was named to the All-ACC Academic team.
The Women's Volleyball Oversight Committee is comprised of 18 people, including four student-athletes representatives. Cabello's term on the committee will end in August 2026.
The Committee responsible for rules governing conduct, playing seasons, and recruiting in women's volleyball, and it administers the sport's championships. Each Atlantic Coast Conference school was able to put forth a student-athlete nominee for the committee and Cabello was then selected as the overall ACC Volleyball nominee. She is one of three student-athletes from across all Division I conferences chosen to serve as a student-athlete representative on the committee.
The committee oversees rules related to conduct, playing and practice seasons and recruiting as well as administers the Division I Women's Volleyball Championship. The committee also proposes and evaluates rules changes and implements input from the coaches' association. Student-athletes have been given increased representation, and their perspectives are considered in the decision-making process.
J'Vonne Hadley, Men's Basketball
Hadley is entering his second season in a Louisville uniform in 2025-26. He started and played in all 35 games for UofL in his first season, leading the team in rebounding at 7.3 boards per game. He shot 51.8% from the floor and scored 12.2 points per contest. He was also a member of the All-ACC Academic Team.
The Men's Basketball Oversight Committee is composed of 20 members, including just three student-athlete representatives. Hadley's term on the committee will expire in August 2026.
The committee ensures that appropriate oversight of men's basketball is maintained, enhances the development and public perception of the sport and makes recommendations related to regular-season and postseason men's basketball. The committee prioritizes enhancement of the student-athlete educational experience (academically and athletically), and in doing so, promotes student-athletes' personal growth and leadership development.
The committee supervises qualifications and/or selection procedures for the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship. The committee reviews recommendations from the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee and processes other issues related to the administration of the championship.
