
Louisville 20th in Latest LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup Standings

The Cardinals picked up 266 points from five teams during the winter.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After posting a top-25 finish in the fall, the University of Louisville athletics department improved five spots and sits 20th in the latest LEARFIELD Directors' Cup standings released on Thursday.
Louisville totaled 266 points during the winter season and is one of five ACC schools ranked in the top 20, tied for the most of any conference.
UofL picked up points in women's basketball, men's and women's swimming and diving, and men's and women's indoor track and field as all five teams reached their respective postseasons.
Louisville women's basketball had yet another banner season this winter. At 29-5, Louisville tied the fifth most wins in program history, while reaching the Elite Eight for the fourth straight tournament, the Sweet 16 for the fifth straight tournament and the Final Four for the fourth time in program history. Head coach Jeff Walz and the Cardinals earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament for the third time in the last four tournaments.
Arthur Albiero's men's and women's swimming and diving programs continued to rank among the best in the country in 2021-22, with the women turning in a sixth-place finish and the men coming in 12th. Nicolas Albiero earned All-America honors in three individual events and helped three Louisville relay teams to top-eight finishes. Gabi Albiero added two individual All-American swims for the women and helped secure a top-eight finish in the 400 free relay.
The Louisville indoor track and field teams had three student-athletes qualify for and compete at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships. Gabriela Leon took home sixth place in the women's pole vault, while Trey Allen earned eighth in the men's high jump and Sterling Warner-Savage finished 10th in the men's 60-meter.
The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
