Van Lith Rated No. 9 in ESPN’s Top 25 Players List
November 03, 2022 | Women's Basketball
She is one of three ACC players listed in the Top-10
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — ESPN listed the top 25 women's basketball players in the country this week and University of Louisville guard Hailey Van Lith was ranked ninth this season. It is the second-straight year Van Lith has made the Top 25 list as she was listed No. 18 prior to last season.
ESPN writer M.A. Voepel had this to say about Van Lith.
"Van Lith heated up in ACC play last year, and then really showed her stuff in the postseason as the Cardinals made the program's fourth Final Four appearance. She scored 20 points or more in Louisville's first four NCAA tournament games and was the Wichita Regional's Most Outstanding Player. Van Lith also has the fire that coach Jeff Walz likes to see in his players, which showed on court and in some funny media moments -- such as when she jokingly chided Jimmy Fallon for picking against Louisville."
Van Lith has had a number of recognitions as the Cardinals prepare for the 2022-23 season. She earned second team Preseason All-American honors from The Athletic. She was one of two Cardinal players (Morgan Jones) to be named to the Preseason All-ACC team. Van Lith was also named to the Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List that recognizes the best shooting guard. The Cardinals were one of three schools that had a player on each of the five positional watch lists.
The Cardinals open up the 2022-23 season on Monday, November 7th at the KFC Yum! Center against Cincinnati. The game will start at 5 p.m. ET as it is the first game of a triple-header on ACC Network to kick off the 2022-23 season. The Cardinals will be followed by Duke men's basketball at 7 p.m. and North Carolina men's basketball at 9 p.m.
