Cards Pick Up Four Wins on Day Two of Coach Dale Short Shootout

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team opened the fall season with four wins on day on of the Dale Short Shootout Friday at Middle Tennessee's Adams Tennis Complex.

The Cardinals matched up with Belmont in singles and doubles on the opening day of the tournament with Louisville taking home three singles victories. Junior Matthew Fung bested Diego Castro 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot while senior Alex Wesbrooks defeated Taisei Miyamoto 7-5, 7-6(3) at No. 3. Sophomore Kyle Tang picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win against Grant Kelly on court four.

In doubles, senior David Mizrahi teamed with Tang for a 7-5 win against Miyamoto and Kelly on court two.

Fall action will continue on Saturday when Louisville takes on the host Blue Raiders.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team continued its solid start to the fall season with four wins at Middle Tennessee on day two of the Coach Dale Short Shootout Saturday at Adams Tennis Complex.

Playing against the host Blue Raiders, the Cardinals swept both doubles matches and notched a pair of singles wins on the day.

In doubles action, of junior Matthew Fung and senior Alex Wesbrooks teamed to beat Lucas Olivier and Mattia Bernardi 6-2. The duo of sophomore Kyle Tang and senior David Mizrahi picked up a 6-4 win against Oscar Brostrom Poulsen and John Chin to complete the sweep on court two.

Fung and Wesbrooks also claimed their singles matchups. Fun defeated Olivier 6-2, 6-0 at the two-spot while Wesbrooks outlasted Chin 7-6, (7-5), 0-6, 6-1 at No. 3.

The tournament will conclude tomorrow when Louisville takes on Lipscomb at 10 a.m.
