August 02, 2021 | Softball
The University of Louisville's Carmyn Greenwood has announced that she will return to compete for the Cardinals' softball team for the upcoming 2022 season, utilizing an NCAA-granted extra year of eligibility.
Â
"I am so excited to be coming back for my final season of college softball," said Greenwood. "I am blessed to have called Louisville home, but I'm not done playing the sport I love just yet! Can't wait to see what my last year has in store! Go Cards!"
Â
The left fielder from Birmingham, Alabama recently completed her second season at UofL after transferring to from Auburn prior to the 2020 COVID-19-shortened season. After earning her bachelor's degree in marketing in May 2021, Greenwood will compete in her final collegiate softball season while pursuing a certificate in franchise management.
Â
As a redshirt senior, Greenwood earned 2021 NFCA All-Southeast Region first team honors after a career-best season in which she led the Cardinals with a .430 batting average, 74 hits, nine doubles and 31 runs. She also paced the team with 23 multi-hit games and is tied for eighth on Louisville's list for single season hits. The All-ACC second team selection led the conference in hits and stood second in batting average. She earned league Player of the Week honors on April 7.
Â
Greenwood has also been successful in the classroom, earning 2021Â All-ACC Academic Team and CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, in addition to being named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the Dean's List.
