The USA 3x3 Women’s National Teams will take part in the Big Twelve International 3x3 Tournament from May 21-23 in Voiron, France.
Colorado Springs, Colorado (May 20, 2021) – University of Louisville freshman forward Olivia Cochran will play with the USA 3x3 Women's National Team in the Big Twelve International 3x3 Tournament from May 21-23 in Voiron, France.
The 3x3 Men's National Team will also participate this weekend. The Big Twelve International 3x3 Tournament marks both teams' final tune-ups before the FIBA 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament that will be played May 26-30 in Graz, Austria.
In addition to Cochran (Louisville/Columbus, Ga.), the USA 3x3 Women's National Team features Stefanie Dolson (Chicago Sky/Connecticut/Port Jervis, N.Y.); Allisha Gray (Dallas Wings/South Carolina/Sandersville, Ga.); Kelsey Plum (Las Vegas Aces/Washington/Poway, Calif.) and Katie Lou Samuelson (Seattle Storm/Connecticut/Huntington Beach, Calif.). They will join teams from France, Holland, Israel, Mongolia, Switzerland, Ukraine and other teams still to be confirmed for the event.
Cochran was MVP at the 2019 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup, where she helped the USA to a gold medal, and she and her TGB teammates won the title at the 2019 USA Basketball 3x3 U18 National Championship.
"These teams we are about to play at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, they have been playing together and training for years," Plum said. "We've had training camps, but this tournament in France will give us a chance to build even more chemistry before the real tourney starts."
The USA 3x3 Men's National Team, which includes Canyon Barry (Iowa Wolves/Florida/Colorado Springs, Colo.), Robbie Hummel (Purdue/Valparaiso, Ind.), Dominique Jones (Fort Hays State/Harlem, N.Y.) and Kareem Maddox (Princeton/Los Angeles, Calif.), will compete along with teams from Dominican Republic, France, Hungary, Israel, Qatar, Russia, Serbia and Ukraine.
"This tournament will be another building block for us to see where we are at," Jones said. "It will be a chance for us to continue working on our cohesiveness while playing against international teams."
The USA teams will depart from the tournament to the FIBA 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Graz, Austria, where the top three finishing men's and three women's teams will qualify for the inaugural Tokyo Olympic Games 3x3 competition.

Those teams earned berths in November 2019 based on point totals from FIBA 3x3 competitions.
With three men's and three women's teams earning Olympic berths through the FIBA 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament May 26-30 in Austria, the eighth-and-final Olympic 3x3 berths will go to the men's and women's winner at the FIBA 3x3 Universality Qualifying Tournament from June 4-6 in Debrecen, Hungary.
