
Louisville Falls to Duke in ACC Men's Tennis Championships

Rome, Ga. – The tenth-seeded University of Louisville men's tennis team fell 4-2 to the No. 7 seed Duke in a tightly-contested first round match in the ACC Men's Tennis Tournament Thursday evening at the Rome Tennis Courts. With the loss, the No. 49 Cardinals fall to 9-12 on the season and finish 3-8 in ACC play. Duke will move on in the tournament to play tomorrow. No. 37 Duke improves to 12-9 (7-5, ACC).
In a competitive doubles point, Luca Keist and Andrew Dale defeated Louisville's Kyle Tang and Alex Wesbrooks 6-3 on court three to give the Blue Devils an early edge. Courts one and two battled to tiebreakers at 6-6. No. 45 Fabien Salle and Matthew Fung fell short to No. 20 Garrett Johns and Sean Sculley 7-6 (4). Court two remained unfinished tied 6-6 between the duo of Sergio Hernandez and Tin Chen and Duke's tandem of Michael Heller and Andrew Zhang.
Duke extended the lead when No. 69 Johns defeated Chen 6-3, 6-3 on court one.
Salle, No. 57 in the ITA singles rankings continued his string of wins with his fifth straight victory, notching Louisville's first point in the match with a 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 2.
No. 120 Keist slid past Josh Howard-Tripp 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) giving the Blue Devil's a 3-1 lead in the match.
David Mizrahi narrowed Duke's lead with a 7-5, 7-6 decision on court six over Michael Heller, making the score 3-2.
The match was clinched for the Blue Devils on court five where Andrew Dale edged Matthew Fung 7-6, 7-5.
