Evans Named Senior CLASS Award First Team All-American
April 01, 2021 | Women's Basketball, Academic Services
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (April 1, 2021) – University of Louisville women's basketball senior guard Dana Evans has been selected as a 2020-21 Senior CLASS Award First Team All-American.
Â
She is joined on the first team by Rennia Davis (Tennessee), Blanca Millan (Maine), Michaela Onyenwere (UCLA) and Jill Townsend (Gonzaga).
Â
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: classroom, community, character, and competition.
Â
Evans was named ACC Player of the Year for the second straight season and the Kay Yow Scholar-Athlete of the Year after leading the league in scoring and free throw percentage, and guiding the Cardinals to a fourth straight ACC regular season title.
Â
She also helped lead Louisville to a 26-4 record and a third straight trip to the NCAA Elite Eight.
Â
The lone senior on this year's team, she embraced her role as a leader. She thrived in that role during a challenging season amid the pandemic that demands leadership not just from the coaching staff, but from upperclassmen.
Evans' successes in the classroom are just as impressive as what she has done on the basketball court. She will graduate this spring with a major in Sport Administration and a minor in Communications. She had a 3.721 grade point average in the 2020 fall semester and has a 3.493 cumulative GPA.
